About me
I set up Great Story Media after two decades of working as a journalist and BBC TV and Radio producer. I made videos for programmes including Newsnight and Newsround. For a long time I produced the main evening news programmes BBC News at Six and BBC News at Ten, as well as a bit of Radio 4 (The World at One and PM).
I worked on lots of different types of stories from big events like royal weddings to complex issues like climate change and pandemics.
When I left the BBC and began working in Communications in higher education, I often came across videos commissioned by researchers to explain their work. They were usually filmed beautifully, with great production values, but they didn’t always tell a compelling story.
That’s when I decided to set up Great Story Media. As a video journalist I’m trained not just in shooting and editing but also in writing and crafting stories.
When I’m not working for Great Story Media I work at the University of York. I live in Ripon with my family and golden retriever Tilly.
